The Ryan Vanguard
The Ryan Vanguard is the long wheelbase, under-seat steering recumbent bicycle that started it all for Ryan Recumbent Cycles. Dick Ryan felt that he could build a bike that had the positive features of the Avatar 2000, but that was simpler to build. 1200 Vanguards were built over 10 years.
Recumbent Cyclist News #29 (Fall, 1995) Vanguard Review (Paul says: "This article is probably the single biggest reason that I purchased my Ryan Vanguard in 1997, sight unseen, from a stranger over the internet.
