Robert Mayer's Vanguard
Robert says: Dick Ryan took my order when I purchased my Vanguard from the Eugene, Oregon shop on July 1993. I went with the optional Charcoal Gray paint, along with Scott SE Composite brakes, the rear rack, the computer mount, and the Therma-Rest cushion. After I received it, I added Control Tech bar ends with Dia-Comp SS-7 brake levers, a Campagnolo Record chain, a Performance CM-400 computer, and replaced the brake cable yokes with Odyssey Straddle Rods. During my first year with it, I rode several group rides and put about three hundred miles on it. Then the short wheel base bug bit me and I purchased an ATP R-40 Vision. I had hoped to get my wife to ride the Vanguard, but she declined, so it has lived a very sheltered,(and covered) life hanging on a wall mount in my garage. Sharp eyed observers will notice that it still has the original tires! I haven't been able to bring myself to sell it because it is just such a beautifully built bike.
